We took a test drive of XtremeMac MicroMemo recorder attachment for the iPod Nano.
For iPod Nano The MicroMemo was designed to make it easy to do voice recordings and even sound recordings on an Apple iPod Video or Nano.
Easy is definitely the word. The MicroMemo was a snap to attach to the bottom of our Nano and operation was just as easy. Once you snap the unit on, the iPod is kicked into memo mode and recording is a second away. Import your recordings into iTunes and edit with Garageband or other audio programs. The attached microphone is flexible and let's you move it into just about any position you need. You can listen to playback through the built in speaker or attach your earbuds.
Recording Quality
MicroMemo records in 2 different quality levels: Low (default) and High. You change the setting at Extras > VoiceMemos > Quality. Low High Bit Rate 352 kb/s 1411 kb/s Sample Rate 22.05 kHz 44.10 kHz 1-Minute Recording 2.6 MB 10.3 MB 1-Hour Recording 156 MB 618 MB Recording Capacity (2GB iPod nano) 12 Hours 3 Hours Recording Capacity (4GB iPod nano) 25 Hours 6 Hours Recording Capacity (8GB iPod nano) 51 Hours 12 Hours
You can also add your own microphone should you choose to do so and the MicroMemo doesn't require an additional power source aside from your iPod.
We found the MicroMemo feature rich and easy to use. The unit is slick and clean and blends with an iPod very nicely.
