The musician's guide to pursuing a major label record deal.

Inside A & R is different that many other music business books. The first thing you will notice is the size. It weighs in at a total of 72 pages. One might think that one couldn't say much in 72 pages, but that would be a very poor assumption. The authors, Ken Krongard and Evan Sanchez, have extensive experience in A & R having worked with artists such as: Whitney Houston, AC/DC, Bon Jovi, Sugar Ray, Everything But The Girl, Aaliyah and Brandy. The book covers all of the major things an artist or band needs to know while pursuing a major label deal. - How to pursue a deal - How A & R Reps really find talent - Making a demo and promo package that matters - Getting A & R to notice you - How to make A & R notice you - How to use Soundscan, BDS and Mediabase - and more... The great thing about Inside A & R is the simplicity with which it is written. There are no promises of fame and fortune and conversely there is no discussion of doom and gloom in the music business. The information is presented quickly and in an easy to understand manner so that you can start making things happen for yourself today, not tomorrow. No history lessons, no preaching. You get information you can use right now. Face it, A & R has become more of a numbers driven game in today's music business. Talent counts, but you will never be able to show that talent if you aren't working smart instead of working hard. If you know all the ways A & R look for talent, you are ahead of the game and can save considerable time. Musicians who have been around for a while may find some of the information old hat. But don't discount this book. For nothing else the book is like a pocket planner to get you focused on key elements and tasks. Call it a mini map to A & R attention. Newbies will learn plenty to get them on the right road. And old dogs can and should always be learning new tricks. If you want hard, fast, give it to me straight information without watching smoke come out of your ass, Inside A & R is the book for you.
Check out the book.
