New MP3.com CEO Robin Richards said that
the company plans to
distribute content other than MP3 files
from unsigned bands -- and will
also offer music videos and video games
owned by parent company Vivendi
Universal.
Vivendi has plans to eventually distribute all of the media it
owns through wireless devices, and has already launched a joint venture
with Vodafone in Europe called Vizzavi that plans to offer digital music
to wireless devices. San Diego-based MP3.com's technology is also being
used as the backbone of Pressplay, a digital music subscription service
venture between Universal Music Group and Sony Music.
