A British singer has signed a deal with Sony after broadcasting her performances live on the internet.
Sandi Thom has recently garnered huge media exposure after webcasting her 'living room' gigs from the basement of her Tooting flat on as part of a 21 consecutive night residency. News of the gigs spread like wildfire and from an initial audience on the first night of 70, to a peak audience of 70,000 across the globe. After a number of offers were made by the major recording labels, Sandi Thom has agreed to sign with the newly formed RCA Label Group. It will be RCA's first UK signing and a first for the newly appointed MD Craig Logan. Craig said on the signing "I'm thrilled that Sandi is the first signing to the RCA Label Group, she is a very talented artist with an already unique story. We're very excited that we're now going to be a part of that story as she develops into a major artist.". The signing was webcast on http://www.sandithom.com/ and broadcasted globally on the Net at 9pm on MondayIt will be the first webcast signing in major record label history. April 3rd in the tradition of the living room gigs.
