Since their inception in early 1996, THE FLAMES began immediately creating a distinct sound and image. Performing throughout the Northeast with such acts as MOTLEY CRUE, JOAN JETT, THE DICTATORS, HUM & FINGER 11, THE FLAMES have never been content with the idea of being an "underground rock band." They have become infamous for their entertaining, high energy live shows as well as creating a loyal fan base through the self promotion of FLAMES CD's, T-shirts, stickers, bubble gum & fan favorites; trading cards. It is not suprising the band has won 'Best Original Pop'.
"I Cheated On You" has been in rotation on Hartford rock station WCCC-FM for over 16 weeks, as well as receiving considerable airplay on college radio.
In December of 1996, the band embarked on a one month tour overseas,
performing in five countries with a total attendance of over 20,000. The
returned in January of 1998 for a two month tour, this time including Japan,
Korea and Singapore.
THE FLAMES are and obvious backlash to the current attitude in pop music. As frontman Matt Starr commented in a recent interview: "The lack of guts in rock & roll today is pathetic....& boring. Rock & roll bands are supposed to be cool, not boring."
