MP3 Song
Melrose in the Morning

THE SONG
A really different and cool song that reminds us of the break-through song "All I Wanna Do" by Sheryl Crow. A commentary on the LA lifestyle that is presented in a fun and slightly cynical way. A definite pleaser.

THE CD
A very solid disc. "along came a spider" has very witty lyrics from a woman's perspective and it's fun! Shannon's vocals could be compared to the likes of Lisa Loeb with a great sweet sound. An adult contemporary winner for sure.

Shannon Beaty is a Nashville born singer/songwriter and there is evidence of this Southern upbringing in her writing. Whether it is a song about personal heartbreak, confusion or outside observation, Shannon's writing is very organic with details of time and place. Her poignant lyrics coupled with her emotional vocal delivery make her one of the most compelling performers to hit the LA scene. Shannon's honest voice delivers words to the heart with electrifying power. Included in her most recent work are a group of accomplished musicians who all appear on her self produced Along Came A Spider CD - Basil Fung (guitar player, who is on Alanis Morrisette's Jagged Little Pill album), Don Kirkpatrick (guitar player, who is currently in Rod Stewart's band), Don Boyette (bass player, who has recorded and toured with Michael Jackson, Stevie Nicks, Cher and others) and David Logeman (drummer, who recorded and toured with Frank Zappa; he also co-produced some of the songs with Shannon on Along Came A Spider), Other featured players include: J'Anna Jacoby (viola & violin, who is currently in Rod Stewart's band), John Kravoza (cello), Brian Mann (accordion), Gary Griffin (accordion) and Osamu Kitajima (koto). Along Came A Spider, her new acoustic release, exposes Shannon in her most vulnerable state both lyrically and vocally. Shannon's debut CD titled Queen For A Day is a fusion of pop/rock/folk which strikes the listener as an Alanis-like talent, before the breakup.

MUSIC PLACEMENTS

Shannon wrote 5 songs for Belgian singer Sarah Dekoster's album The State I'm In, which was released by EMI Records in April 1999. Squeaky Fromme is featured in the film Deterrence (written & directed by Rod Lurie) starring Timothy Hutton, Sean Astin & Kevin Pollock. Fracture was featured in The Young & The Restless which aired Sept. 1999.
