MP3 Song

THE SONG
Groove and then some. Simply solid rock craftsmanship. Well produced and performed.

THE CD
Rock with class. The music isn't exactly the norm and that is what makes it great. The cd is an aural journey that must be taken. Pope Syndicate is definitely onto something special.

POPE SYNDICATE was formed in the spring of 2000 in Westchester NY. As members of a New York based funk band guitarist and vocalist DAVID PORTAL and bassist JORDAN MARION began exploring a heavier and more accessible sound as the founding member of POPE SYNDICATE. With drummer MIKE BAMBACE rounding out the crew the core members were in place.

POPE SYNDICATE has created an unmistakable hard rock sound rooted in Portal's highly skilled guitar-playing and soulful vocals. Marion and Bambace give Portal's crunchy, stop-time riffs an added punch with a dead on rhythmic foundation. At once funky, accessible and markedly aggressive, POPE SYNDICATE can evoke post hardcore rage, bluesy and classic rock in the same set.

Perhaps what's most remarkable about the syndicate's tight rhythmic swagger Is how quickly it has developed. In less then 6 months the band had recorded the ENERGY PIMPS an EP of seven blistering songs that documents the band's lightning fast crystallization. In the fall of 2001 Pope Syndicate began working on there First Full Length recording Titled INTRANSIT due for release in Spring of 2002.

The result is a prolific collection of new material that the band is currently performing at live dates throughout the Northeast, and the emergence of one of rock's most promising independent bands.
