Usual Suspect
THE SONG
A cool groove and hook make the Usual Suspect a winner. This is rock and rap with a twist.
THE CD
In the vein of Kid Rock, Mr. Scrillion aka Adam Thick lays down a collection of catchy and entertaining songs. The nasaly quality of Adam's voice is memorable. The cd is filled with great beats and humor. If Jay from Jay and Silent Bob put out a rap record, this would be it.

It all started back in 1989. I got my first taste of rap music. It was music to my ears.
The first rap though that really caught my attention was ICE-T and NWA. Hardcore gangster rap at the time, was the most blatant form of self expression available, and no one did it better than ICE and NWA. I was hooked. About a year or so later, I discovered Esham and Kid Rock. They were local rappers, and as far as I was concerned, every bit as good as the rappers I watched on Yo!MTV Raps. After highschool, I was booted from the crib and moved here and there. I went to a technical school in ‘93, out by Kalamazoo. Upon graduation, I attempted to get a job and become gainfully employed...that was the plan. After an exhaustive job search, with little or no positive feedback, I began to despair. Perhaps the skills I learned in the classroom were not the skills that I needed to be exercising. Afterall, I had met some very interesting characters back then that taught me how to get paid on the underground tip. One such character was a pimp from California, his name was D.Montgomery. I had lots of crazy(and shady)adventures with this cat, all the while learning how to score. Back in the real world, with no job, I decided I was gonna get down for mine....one way or another. I started an intensive period of study. My goal was to become a successful white-collar criminal, so, I studied my ass off. Underground books, texts, notes, how-to reports, the internet, correspondence with inmates, and any type of reading material I could get my hands on. After months of study, I felt I was ready to go into the field. What you have to understand is, I made a conscious decision to get involved in criminal activity. To me, it was the fastest way to get to where I wanted to be. At the time, I was in a state of depression because of personal and family problems, and criminal activity was an excellent way to block those out. Once I hit the street, it was ON. Without a doubt, I put in work. Schemes, scams, and cash money plans! I had my hands in everything. My stepmom noticed my penchant for shady endeavors back in the day, and dubbed me the ‘Goldfinger’. She said, “He’s like a international goldfinger” “he’s got his hands in everything”. I did my best to live up to the hype. The more involved I got in white collar crime, the more crooks I ran into. The more criminal activity I engaged in, the bolder I got. Finally, I thought I was ready for a real caper. A big score. It went down, but I was at the wrong place at the wrong time. The aftermath of that caper dragged on for almost 2 years. I realized that shady activities will often lead you to a trunk, or a lake with cement shoes. I was getting out of the game. The crime game that is. I made a change for the better. Just because I was involved in criminal activity doesn't mean I'm a slacker. I've been going to college part-time since 1995. My concentration of classes was for psychology, abnormal behavior, deviance, and psycho-social issues. I got a lot of credits, but no degree as of yet. This is what I love doing. I'm also active on the political tip. Primarily on Privacy issues and marijuana reform. I keep up to date on new bills being passed, especially the ones that further erode out rights and personal freedoms. The cage we live in gets smaller every day.
My favorite westcoast rappers are DRE, Snoop, Spice 1, and Celly Cel. My favorite Detroit rappers are Esham & Kid Rock. Natas is cool, and ICP has their moments too.
I’ve been writing lyrics since 1993, I never stopped, even during my one man crime spree. One of my close friends and I had wanted to form a rap group and start rapping. We made several attempts over the years but could never get it off the ground. In 1998 I got my hands on a 4 track and we began to rap. Shortly after my friend got married, and was about to move out of state. We so wanted our rap group to come together, but it wasn’t meant to be. He encouraged me to continue, and literally made me believe that I could do it alone. Up to this point, it was always our dream, but I never took it too seriously, because I thought that if it was gonna happen, it was gonna be both of us. He made me believe I could do it alone. I continued writing, and rapping, and practicing, and in the summer of 2000 I dropped my first tape, an EP called Goldfinger Connection. I put it in a handful of stores around metro Detroit. Just to get something out, and floating around. After that, I began working on my opus to dopeness: Lifestyles of the Shady n Neurotic. This cd is basically about the life of Scrillion a.k.a Adam Thick. I like to talk about stuff I’ve done, things I’m doing, or things I want to do, in addition to conceptual raps. I don’t have to make up or fabricate shit because I’ve had truly unique experiences that I draw from. Sometimes the truth is stranger than fiction. So blaze one up, put some Scrill in your deck, say whattup to Adam Thick an pass the doobie around.
