Maya Solovey - Young, genuine, and passionate for life, love, and truth, she composes intricate piano-based pop music, with an indian influence and sometimes a slight R&B flavor. Her new EP, "Dissolving" incorporates lush vocal layering, strings, Sanskrit mantras, sitar, and tablas to create a deep, earthy full sound, with melancholic undertones. The Voice – Ranging from earthy and sultry, to breathy and sweet, her voice is soulful and delicate, strong and vulnerable, solid and intimate, and always heartfelt. She carries her songs with honesty and grace, seizing and capturing the experiences the heart feels when it is truly alive. The Background – Solovey began playing music at age five. She always played by ear, even to the point of fooling her piano teachers for three years, convincing them that she was reading the music they gave her. When she was fifteen years old, Maya began teaching herself guitar and writing songs, and by age seventeen, she had produced and released her first album, ‘Spiritual Fruit’. After trying her hand at the life of the lone folk singer-songwriter, Maya switched instruments, from the guitar back to the piano, and began honing her style towards pop, all the while keeping her unique musical perspective intact. Now, at age 20, the quality of Solovey’s songs clearly shows that the work has paid off. Backing her up are her influences of great modern singer-songwriters, such as Coldplay, Tori Amos, Fiona Apple, Paula Cole, but she never fails to give her listener surprises, always keeping her music fresh, growing, and congruent with her own development as a young woman.
