Bridge to Atlantis is a concept album about blind ambition...racing toward the right thing...in the wrong directio. "I was compelled to write the title track aafter watching so many people work so hard wihtout knowing why, many times burning out completely. For indies especiall, the dream of success is so elusive, and there is no way you can ever reakky know if you're really on your way or just building that bridge to an underwater, mythological dreamland."

This current runs through all of Atlantis' thirteen songs. "Mrs. Magazine" tells the story if a young features writer who finally achieves success in the competitive worls of print media, only to find it crashing down around her. The there is Madman", who finally finds lvoe but cannot handle it's complications. He flees to the anonymity of the bi city rationalizing. "it's a bitch, but it;s better not in your arms.

What Kevin is most proud of in this record is the songwriting. "There is really not one song that anyone can listen to and say "well, this has been said before in more or less the same way..next!" I was a published poet before I was ever a musician, so I've got to have something to sat before I even worry about the vocal."

That said, musicianship matters! Atlantis demonstrates real vocal commitment to a wide range of styles. For example, listen to track four, "Riding Horses on the Moon", and you hear a lonely, longing voice smoothing and sharpening over a distorted acoustic guitar. Then "Madman cuts completely loose, with a Stones-style carelessness, only to be followed by :Mrs. Magazine", a three-octave vocal taffy pull.

It is this powerful combination of evocative lyrics and melodic storytelling that brings "Atlantis" into the listner's view, if for only one unforgettable hour.
