MP3 Song
Indian Ocean

THE SONG
This song was our favorite of the 6 songs on the cd. It starts slow then, it gets rollin.

THE CD
This 6 song cd is definitely a good listen all the way through. The emotion from the songs pulls you in and keeps you there.

Vincent Grant bought his first guitar and after a handful of lessons, began writing songs. A year later, he was on his way to California from his native Chicago, accompanied by his brother Christopher. Playing Vince's newly penned originals, the two of them immediately started busking on Venice Beach, to the coffee houses, to putting together a five-piece electric band, The Brothers. The Brothers quickly became a name draw at several of Hollywood's prestigious rock clubs. The band gigged tirelessly, playing over 100 shows per year from 1990-92, supplementing their L.A. shows with regular gigs throughout California and Arizona. They also opened for signed bands such as the Gin Blossoms and eventually released their own cd. This led to the extended tours across the South and Midwest, with an appearance at SXSW. Their self-titled cd garnered regional radio airplay, live radio promotions and interviews, which pushed the band to continue touring. After a few years of playing and touring with The Brothers, Vince moved alone to New York city in order to concentrate on his writing. A year later Christopher followed and the music they created propelled them to put together another band. Armed with a batch of new songs and a new sound, the siblings formed After Cacciaoto, a name inspired by a Tim O'brien novel. They quickly went into the studio and cut a six song demo and they were soon gigging out as frequently in NYC as they had in L.A. In a space of five months, they played 35 shows in Manhattan alone. Besides playing anywhere they could, the brothers shopped the tape to various entertainment lawyers and obtained representation. Even though the band was becoming and established act in NYC, the recording deal was not quite forthcoming. The band broke up and the brothers moved back to L.A. This time, however, they went together to work on their evolving musical direction and sound. The Grants spent their first year back in California writing new material. They formed Gideon Chrome. Accented by the addition of their After Cacciaoto keyboardist Jeff Isenberg, they went into the studio. The result is the six song cd Oceans, melding past, present and future, producing a timeless spiritual and mystical vibe. "This recording is a reflection of our collective experiences. The musical and lyrical expression can only be understood through the ears of the listener. Oceans is an introspective journey: Gideon Chrome a state of mind."
