MP3 Song
Cold Metal Dream

THE SONG
A futuristic tale about a female cyborg, Cold Metal Dream is a fantastic blend of vocals and well crafted music. The recording is clean and well produced making it a pleasure to listen to. This song shouldn't have any trouble getting airplay.

THE CD
Burning inside contains 10 fantastic electronic based tunes. The album is well produced and is beuatifully written in both lyrics and music. This is a band that is going somewhere in the electronic genre.

The musical journey begins with aggressive, grinding, electronic rhythms, followed by lush, orchestrated instrumentation, and then the voice: passionate, compelling, unique. Is it dance music? Yes and no. Is it alternative? Yes and no. Is it electronic? Yes and no. Is it sexy? You betcha.

Jeremy M. Helfgot, former editor of Music Connection Magazine writes, "[Channel] really breaks the mold...a sound that is as eclectic as it is refreshing... one of the few truly unique acts on the local scene who are worthy of serious attention."

Hailing from Anaheim, California, Channel recently released Burning Inside, their latest endeavor on Neurotic Cat Records. The CD marks the bands return to the local circuit after a year of writing, recording, re-recording, and rehearsing. The hard work has apparently paid off. An unfinished version of the CD was enough to land the band a coveted showcase slot at the prestigious Philadelphia Music Conference 2000. A song from the CD was been placed in e-radio rotation on ArtistLaunch.com. The band ranked as high as three at mPulse.com. And the band also recently ranked in the semifinals of Disc Makers 1998 Southwest Independent Music World Series (IMWS), placing them in the top 10% of all music received.

Channel, born unassumingly in 1994 as an acoustic trio, paired Mark Rhodes and Todd MacKenzie, both fellow members of the critically acclaimed Orange County band Her Own Hands. But the two weren't satisfied with a coffeehouse sound and instead challenged themselves creatively with electronica. Their second release, a self-titled 4-song EP fused their roots with their ultimate goals and garnered the attention of local promoters, indie labels and the press. Robert Kinsler of the Orange County Register wrote of the release, "there is an intelligence to Channel's work, particularly the lyrical journeys...the musical craft of Rhodes and MacKenzie results in original arrangements...on their excellent debut."

Channel's EP garnered them live performances with such notable electronic artists as Gearwhore, Anything Box and Spahn Ranch. Keyboardist Todd MacKenzie was asked to play with none other than Bo Diddley at the 1999 Hootenany Festival. And two of their tracks were chosen to appeared on the Orange County Rock With a Twist of Lemon compilation disc, about which the Orange County Register's Robert Kinsler said, "several of the groups' works really stand out, with [Channel]...shining on their recording [with] Mark Rhodes' unique voice."

The future promises to be busy for Channel as they promote and distribute their first full-length release, perform at the Philadelphia Music Conference in January 2000, and gear up for an onslaught of live performances in California and Nevada, including a showcase at the enormous clothing convention, the MAGIC International Conference, at the Las Vegas Convention Center in February 2000.
