Hey being in a band is expensive. Strings, gas, cords, beer, promotion and everthing else suck up what little money you have. Here's a few tips to save money in the studio.
1. Ask yourself, do you really need an expensive studio? There are lots of guys with the latest digital equipment that will record you for $10 an hour. The quality all depends on the skill of the engineer and what you really plan to do with your recording.
2. Rehearse!!! You can save hours in the studio knowing your music cold and working out all the parts. But there are moments of inspiration that you must follow.
3. Have the drums ready to be miked as soon as the clock starts. This ususally is a major time killer especially if you have to go in for multiple sessions.
4. Make sure its a good day for your vocalist. If he's not sure about his voice, scrap it and come back another day instead of wasting money on something no one will be happy with.
