Sure you may have run into one of the biggest a-holes you ever met and he is your sound guy. Work with him or her and be professional. Most sound boards come with a "This band sucks" button and an irate sound guy could just enable it. Be courteous and be sure to say "please" and "thanks". Getting a sound guy on your side can make a huge difference, especially if he likes your music. Being mixed the entire show is much more beneficial than to have the mixer set and left on auto mode.
