The music, the thrill of live music at SXSW 2005

Billy Idol

True to form and just as good as ever, Billy Idol rocked through new songs from his new album "Devil’s Playgorund" and faithfully represented the favorites that the crowd has loved over the years. And the show wasn’t complete without the essential guitar work of Steve Stevens. http://billyidol.com/  http://www.devilsplayground.tv

Troubled Hubble

One word "FUN". The band is Troubled Hubble and these guys know how to have FUN and involve the crowd in the whole trip to funland. Infectious rock tunes were dished up non-stop to an audience that could not get enough. As you can see they were literally climbing the rafters. http://www.troubledhubble.com/

Head Rush

Charismatic, engaging and highly entertaining, Head Rush put on a fantastic set at the Vibe on Saturday night. A three-piece band from Sacramento, CA that has a new album due out in June. Each of the band members are so interesting to watch that it is hard to decide which one to look at. Waymon Boone, Mike Johnston and Allison Johnson make up a dynamic trio whose power cannot be matched. http://www.headrushband.com/

Robert Plant

This man still knows how to rock ‘n’ roll. Blending songs from his new album “Mighty Rearranger” with some classic Zeppelin songs into a 2 hour set for 3000 at the Austin Music Hall, Robert Plant shows his ability to stay true to his roots while marching into the future. http://robertplant.com/

Rolling Blackouts

Rolling Blackouts from Southern California. Raucous and edgy rock. The crowd was throbbing in front of the stage for this band. It felt like the 70’s rock but with teeth. Simply loud and straight forward rock that has sorely been missed. http://www.recordcollectionmusic.com/artists_detail.php?ArtistID=10

Colin Herring

Collin Herring had the people dancing with a unique blend of pop/rock/folk/country music. Witty and entertaining, the band has as one of its members a much older gentleman working the pedal steel. From that small stage emanated some very fresh and full music from the Forth Worth band. http://www.collinherring.com

Laura Cantrell

Simply sweet and smooth folk/country music that caressed the room. Laura is charming and makes her country flavored music interesting even to non country fans. A capacity crowd was blanketed in the pillow of Laura’s voice. “Humming by the Flowered Vine” will be released by this New York resident and Nashville born singer on June 21, 2005. http://www.lauracantrell.com/
